What does it look like to be an ambassador for Christ?
Well first, just what is an ambassador? According to Miriam-Webster, an ambassador is: an authorized representative or messenger. An ambassador is an agent, delegate, emissary, legate, minister, and representative.
Who are we representing? Certainly, Jesus Christ and the Good News. God made him who had no sin, to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God ( 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV). Our sin was poured into Christ on the cross, and therefore, His righteousness was poured into us at our conversion.
WOW. What an honor given to us. We are sent with his message of reconciliation to the world. Our responsibility should not be taken lightly.
How will others know us?
Some traits of Christ\’s ambassadors include: We know what the message is and how to share it, Patience, we are not rude, we seek the best for others, we do not become angry easily, evil makes us sad and the truth makes us happy, we protect those who cannot otherwise protect themselves, we are humble and modest. And, we persevere, have hope, and run the good race.
Takeaway: How well are you fulfilling your commission as Christ\’s ambassador? How has being an ambassador for Christ changed the way you live?
Let’s pray:
Abba Father, we thank you for our reconciliation to you through your Son Jesus Christ. Guide us in studying your word to gain the knowledge and wisdom needed for us to be ambassadors of our Lord and Savior. Help us to persevere and seek your truths so that we may help others come home to you. Amen
